Introducing ‘Calm’ – The Apple Meditation App

Introducing ‘Calm’ – The Apple Meditation App

While many people choose to switch their phones off while they meditate in order to get rid of all distractions and focus fully, others turn to them to access apps that can guide them with effective meditation.

‘Calm’ is a new app offering by Apple that introduces users to the basics of meditation, so what can you expect to learn about meditation and finding peace when you choose ‘Calm’?

What the app entails

‘Calm’ is a multi-day series, with each focusing on a specific goal that individuals may want to achieve.

Goals include managing stress, focusing, calming anxiety and achieving happiness.

Initially users will experience the “7 Days of Calm,” a guided course featuring 7 sessions of 10 minutes each.

Completing a session unlocks the next meditation in the series.

After completing the 7 sessions, users can continue to “21 Days of Calm” and commit to full paid subscription.

The full app includes guided sessions which range from 3 to 30 minutes in length, as well as ‘Daily Calm’, which is a 10-minute program for easing individuals into the day or unwinding after a stressful day at work or school.

‘Sleep Stories’ is another feature on the app that helps users drift into a comfortable sleep by focusing on a range of calming techniques, particularly useful for those that suffer from anxiety and sleeplessness.

Who the app is good for

The ‘Calm’ app has been designed with novice meditators in mind and is great for people that are keen to learn about the concept of mindfulness in a relaxed and easy way.

Having said that, there is no reason why meditators that are more experienced can’t also engage with the app.

Anyone keen to alleviate daily stressors and that seek relaxation will love the variety of mindfulness programmes that include forgiveness, commuting and gratitude.

The extras

With so many apps to choose from these days, many of us like to know about the quirky features or add-ons apps can offer.

With ‘Calm’, users will be able to customise both the background nature scenes and sounds that feature on the app.

They will also receive mindfulness reminders and will benefit from one button access to breathing exercises, meditations and sleep stories.

Anyone that is keen to learn about mindfulness and meditation should definitely consider downloading the ‘Calm’ app.

It’s goal-orientated and easy to integrate into daily life, meaning users are much more likely to stick with and benefit from the practices.
